The text of DR. YELLOWBOOTS has been stored on-chain, which means the text is stored within the smart contract that has been minted directly to the Ethereum blockchain. This means that even if there are server problems in the future that mean the imagery fails to load, the text itself is safe and will last as long as the Ethereum blockchain lasts.
The text has been stored within the ASCII artwork section of the contract on Manifold - which is an innovative way of ensuring text is held on chain, but only works for contracts with single NFTs

Before I existed, my mum wrote. Poems, think pieces and short stories - including this first draft of a short story she wrote about meeting my Dad - a mysterious man who everyone seemed to know, but who was only ever seen after dark.
I was fortunate enough to be born at a time when publishing is accessible, whilst my mum was without the means to share her words so easily as we can do now.
This OPEN EDITION represents two ideas.
1 - PRESERVING TEXT. The raw text of this short story is stored within the smart contract, meaning it is preserved in a way that will outlive the paper it was typed on. This story will remain!
2 - WORDS MATTER. My mum held all of her words back - all of her life. I want her to know that her words matter. To her, being an author was something that other people did - but that’s not the case.
DR. YELLOW-BOOTS is a first-draft, typewritten short story, never touched but for a few pencil edits. There is something very beautiful about the first capture of an idea and in that spirit this text is published without edit.
MAUREEN EKVALL
Maureen Ekvall is a writer from Hull. She has written throughout her life but had never previously sought publishing. DR. YELLOW-BOOTS is the raw text from her first short story, about a mysterious man, known to all in the city of Hull, but only at nite… for when the sun came up, no trace of him could ever be found.
