HYPERREAL is a multi-disciplinary beast, focused on telling captivating, mind-bending stories that challenge what it means to be human, alive, here and now.

HYPERREAL is made up of four arms (and one imprint):

🟥 HYPERREAL FILMS is a genre-fluid independent film studio. Our first feature film, LAPWING, was released theatrically in the UK in 2021 and across the rest of the world in 2022 - whilst our short film MOUSE-X was described as ‘One of the best short films I’ve ever seen’ by Matt Glasby, film critic at TOTAL FILM, LITTLE WHITE LIES and GQ.

🟧 HYPERREAL PRESS is a Web3 literary press, delivering books, poetry, microfiction, and specialist essays as an NFT/Print-On-Demand hybrid model that reframes literature as a work of art. Our microfiction journal, THE DARK PASSENGER NEVER ANSWERED, releases quarterly, and every piece of literature we release will be available within our library, the ANTHENAEUM.

🟨 HYPERREAL LABS is a spin-off research facility. A percentage of profits from HYPERREAL is put to use investigating the topics we discuss in our work. What might lie beyond objective reality? Is time travel feasible? How might psychedelics contribute to overcoming the mental health crisis?

Finally, 🟩 HIGH CONCEPT is an imprint of HYPERREAL - a story agency that does things a little differently. We do not seek original projects, we craft them in-house in a series of one-of-a-kind experiments.

Alongside HYPERREAL runs 🟦 RACONTEUR - the branding arm of HYPERREAL. When we’re not busy telling wild, bold, stories that you can’t get out of your head… we’re helping businesses do that for themselves.

Everything is connected - HYPERREAL projects often link in unexpected ways. You’ll find more than one Easter egg on this site and secret projects are a given. HYPERREAL believe that storytelling doesn’t only happen on the page or the screen but in the way work is delivered - so be ready for anything. Or, as we like to say…

HYPERREAL employs two key symbols as part of its branding:

Firstly, our logo, which is both an H, and an optical illusion. You’ll see this come to life in various idents at the start of our films. It also represents a recurring character within our story universe - but we’ll let you figure out what that is!

Secondly, 🟥 🟧 🟨 🟩 🟦 is a symbol of DEVOID work, but runs throughout HYPERREAL as well, collectively representing a philosophy on the computational nature of reality. Each block is a pixel in a primary colour, and you’ll see these colours crop up on a consistent basis throughout HYPERREAL and DEVOID work. Especially in the SPECTRUM and UNION collections. These colour blocks are useful as they are also unicode symbols and will display in plain text.
